The social media debate rolls on
HELLO I'M A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERT GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY was the title of a recent discussion I was involved in on LinkedIn
To which my response was:
I think a blanket statement across all market sectors that this is "baloney" is short sighted. Obviously no-one would deny the focus for most businesses is ROI and an increase in market share but it is also true that customer engagement and a clear marcomms strategy is also necessary to ensure customer retention is achieved. In order to engage your target market you need to communicate well with them and in order to do that you need to be where they are. Whether we like it or not there is a shift of people seeking info online. I implement marketing plans for accountants and solicitors in Yorkshire and I have seen a huge increase in my client's website traffic and experienced at first hand the process of engaging through social media, leading to meetings and converting to direct work. It's not the be all and end all but it should be a component part of your overall marketing strategy.
