Yorkshire Lawyer Leadership Group has been established to facilitate a mentoring and development platform for leaders of the region’s law firms.

The Yorkshire Lawyer Leadership Group invites you to....

a series of five half day meetings to be held at the prestigious Club LS1 at 3 Albion Place, Leeds ‘the place where leaders meet’. The meetings will be facilitated by Denis Kaye of the Yorkshire Leadership Group who is an experienced advisor and mentor to law firms. Lisa Lister of Progress Marketing, specialist marketing consultants to law firms will also provide input to the workshops based upon extensive experience of implementing business development plans.

Why?

Running a law firm is a lonely place for most senior partners and they have few people with whom they can discuss major issues such as strategy, succession planning, mergers, business development/marketing, business funding. Peer groups provide a safe, confidential forum in which to discuss issues, decide upon action and feedback on actions taken from previous meetings.

Content

Following the taster session in June we have used attendee feedback to shape the programme we are starting in September.

Discussions will focus on:

· Strategy – What type of firm doing what types of work and for whom

· Structure - Finance/Succession/Outsourcing/Profitability

· Business development – Growth of ‘right’ work streams/Online/New competitors/How do clients buy

· Client service – What is it/How to deliver excellence/How do you measure it

· Leadership and management – conflict with fee earning for managing partners/Non-lawyers

We have already signed up ten participants for the programme of five meetings that will commence in September and a number of others considering joining. Members will include both larger and smaller firms.

We believe the group should be limited to 15 members, so please do act swiftly to participate.

How much?

Eligible members may be grant aided under the government’s Leadership & Management Advisory Service.

As long as you have fewer than 250 staff and have not already been funded by the Leadership and Management Advisory Service you may be eligible for a grant of £1,000. Please request a copy of the funding form from leadership@yorkshirelawyer.co.uk. If successful this funding is deducted from the full programme cost of £1,750 (this includes 5 half day sessions from September-May plus 12 months membership of Club LS1 for the participant).

The first session will take place at Club LS1 (3 Albion Place, Leeds) on 8th September from 9.00am until 12.30pm
